Nevada County, CA—December 3, 2026: Nevada County Arts Council announces its “The Arts Need YOU!” End of Year Giving campaign during this holiday season. With challenges to arts funding affecting the entire creative community, umbrella organizations like Nevada County Arts Council are more necessary than ever. To build a community-powered creative future and reduce dependence on unpredictable funding sources, they are asking communities across Nevada County to show their support with donations to fuel the next generation of artists, creative entrepreneurs, students, and local arts organizations.
“Nevada County Arts Council is the connective tissue of the arts in Nevada County—uniting artists, educators, organizations, businesses, and local government to ensure our community continues to thrive.” Says Executive Director Eliza Tudor. “The arts in Nevada County are not a luxury—they are central to how we learn, connect, and understand one another.”
Every donation will directly fund the Arts Council and its community programs, like the youth-focused Artists in Schools, which brings teaching artists into classrooms to provide nearly 10,000 lessons each year. In Truckee, annual student S.T.E.A.M. (science, technology, engineering, ART, and math) exhibitions at the Tahoe Truckee Airport showcase the intersection between the arts and science with student artwork. That’s in addition to multiple youth artist internships and the deeply-loved Poetry Out Loud program for county high school students.
Donations also support the careers and livelihoods of working artists and arts organizations directly, through initiatives like Cultural District grants that distribute tens of thousands of dollars to individuals, collectives, and organizations within the Grass Valley-Nevada City and Truckee California Cultural Districts. Professional career development programs, like the annual Business of Art symposium and the brand-new Artist Accelerator course, deliver expert-led skills and practical advice for anyone seeking to build a career in the arts. Along with three Artist Directories, both online and in print, offered free to artists that live or work in Nevada County; fiscal sponsorship; and mentorship opportunities, these valuable programs can only continue with support from individual donors in the community.
“The arts are for everyone, but to make sure that access is protected, it takes an investment in our community.” Hannah Mosby, Membership Coordinator at Nevada County Arts Council, says. “It’s the gift that keeps giving—funding and support for the arts strengthens our community, and a strong community creates more art that enriches where we live and work.”
