EQUITY, DIVERSITY, AND INCLUSIOn

At Nevada County Arts Council we believe that everyone should have access to creative experiences, including but not limited to those who have been historically underrepresented, whether because of their race, ethnicity, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, socioeconomic status, geography, citizenship status, or religion.  

We see inclusion as a critical part of the development of arts policy: the support of artists; the nurturing of accessible, thriving venues for expression; and the fair distribution of programmatic, financial, and informational resources.

OF/BY/FOR ALL

In April 2019, Nevada County Arts Council committed to OF/BY/FOR ALL’s Change Network in order to deepen community impact, advance goals around diversity, equity, and inclusion, provide professional development, and develop new, community-centered ways of working. OF/BY/FOR ALL is the beginning of a journey for us. It connects with our aims towards cultural planning, cultural competency, and thought leadership - and to our unique role as State-Local Partner with California Arts Council.

As we navigate OF/BY/FOR ALL, we hope to engage our community in thoughtful conversations around what cultural equity means for those living within Nevada County.
