Upcoming Exhibition Showcases Artworks from from Resident Artists, Instructors, and Students at ASiF - Artists’ Studio in the Foothills

Nevada County Arts Council, the County of Nevada and Artists’ Studio in the Foothills (ASiF) invite the community to the Opening Reception for Art in Public Spaces’ next exhibition, Creative Capital | Cultivating Community with ASiF - Artists’ Studio in the Foothills.

Through this multi-media exhibition, Creative Capital highlights the importance of creative hubs as catalysts for commerce and social well-being. It takes a close look at how creative spaces serve as essential vehicles for developing and sustaining professional artists. By partnering with ASiF, this exhibition takes a behind-the-scenes look at just one of the many makers’ spaces that make Nevada County a thriving arts ecosystem—by providing access to a network of resources and relationships within the community.

For 16 years this 4,000-square-foot studio arts center—comprising studio spaces, classrooms, and a gallery—has served as a container for creativity and commerce. With a mission to build and nurture a community where art can be made, displayed and appreciated.

Home to around 20 studio artists and a dozen instructors, ASiF offers a wide range of year-round programs, classes, and art camps—for adults and children—in a range of media, serving approximately 800 students annually. By allowing artists to hone their skills, build businesses, and connect with the community, creative spaces like ASiF foster a vibrant cultural scene. Their business and the artists they support contribute directly to the social and economic vibrancy of Grass Valley-Nevada City Cultural District and surrounding communities. Creativity is not just a cultural amenity, it is a powerful economic driver.

Join Nevada County Arts Council, the County of Nevada, and Artists’ Studio in the Foothills for the Opening Reception for Creative Capital | Cultivating Community, on Friday, September 19, at 4:30pm in the upper lobby of the Eric Rood Center. Celebrate ASiF’s community and learn more about the powerful impact these creative hubs have within our Cultural Districts, east and west.

Creative Capital | Cultivating Community features the work of 18 resident artists and teachers from ASiF, plus students' work. Featured artists include: Eileen Blodgett, Karen Brooks, Roseanne Burke, Kim Carlsen, Mariela Cunqueiro, Dori Greenbaum, Cheri Guerrette, Claudia Jeffers, Michelle Jewett, Pam Klein, Susan Michalski, Amanda Paoletti, Rose Paratore, Em Pieper, Jennifer Smat, Denise Wey, Sharon Yonenaka, and Lani Zila.
