Ramona Residency for Artist Mothers
Residency Details
Ramona Residency will offer fully funded two-week residences for mothers and their families at our residency house located in Houston, Texas. Please note there is not a separate studio space, therefore artists who are able to work within the home or on the outdoor back deck are encouraged to apply.
The residency includes furnished accommodations/studio and a $500 stipend. Artist mothers and/or female identifying caregivers will be selected through this open call process. The residency will accommodate one artist and her family at a time. A partner/spouse/family member can join in a caregiving role for attending children.
Residency Timeline
Application deadline March 1st at 11:59PM CST
Finalist Zoom interviews March 10-12

Available residency slots include:

You will have a chance to select your date preference when you apply. As an artist run space we ask for a $35 entry fee to help cover the cost of running the residency and to help support our programming throughout the year.
Eligibility
Artists working in any visual arts medium and at any stage of their careers will be considered. Artists living nationally or internationally can apply (including local Houston artists) but please note a travel stipend is not included nor is visa support offered.
Mothers with older or younger children are welcome to submit an application. An artist's children do not need to attend the residency to be eligible, rather each selected artist mother is invited to make the decision that best suits their family.
Residency Expectations
The aim for Ramona Residency is to not only provide support for the artist mother but also to enrich the Houston community through opportunities to engage with the artist directly and the residency program. Each resident will have the opportunity to meet with local curators and artists. The residency concludes with an open studio and/or artist talk and will be scheduled towards the middle or end of the residency period.
Since we are a nonprofit, we ask each resident to donate a work for a future exhibition and fundraiser for Ramona.
