Calling 2D Artists—"Plant the Seed," a Juried Exhibition
Can you imagine a world without butterflies? The Western Monarch Butterfly population has declined by roughly 90% since 1980 due to habitat loss, increased herbicide and pesticide use, and climate change. To draw attention to their plight, we are presenting a month-long exhibition of 2D, butterfly-inspired artworks in February entitled “Plant the Seed
Mission: All proceeds from artwork sales will fund the purchase of milkweed seeds to be planted around Nevada County by school seed-planting education, Bear Yuba Land Trust ‘s restoration projects and Mike the Bee Guy’s classes. Milkweed is critical to monarchs — it is the only plant where Monarchs lay eggs and the primary food source for monarch caterpillars. We invite artists who care about the monarch and its life cycle to participate.
