As SARTA’s Board member Leslie Addiego stated: "These two women, along with many volunteers, actors, and supporters, created a legacy devoted to enriching the county’s culture and sharing their Asian heritage through the dramatic arts, providing education for people of all ages and, most importantly, lending agency to the Asian-American voice."

Wood said Moon’s passion for theatre was practically contagious— she was a true lover of the stage and the many processes that surround putting on a successful show. Most recently, Moon took the stage for the CATS production of “Snow Falling on Cedars” which closed May 18.

Earlier this year we were honored to host an exhibit on CATS as part of our new Art in Public Spaces program with the County of Nevada. A Thousand Cranes celebrated its 30th anniversary and its remarkable service to audiences from across Northern California and beyond. Thank you, Lisa, for holding us accountable to our history, for sharing the enormous contributions of our Asian American communities over time, for uplifting the Asian American voice, and for inspiring our youth for so many years. We will not forget you—your legacy will live on.

Mira Clark's work is about fostering collaboration, sparking curiosity, and interconnectedness, and promoting social and environmental awareness through mixed-media storytelling. For the past seven years, she has dedicated herself to California Heritage: Indigenous Research Project (CHIRP's) "Visibility Through Art Initiative," facilitating collaboration between Nevada County artists and the Nevada City Rancheria Nisenan Tribe. Her artistic purpose is rooted in building bridges across diverse communities and driving social change through the Arts.

Nehira Jupiter is a classically trained artist using paint, photography and the written word to explore and make visible the invisible strings of intelligence that weave life together. She has had mystical experiences and unusual encounters with forces beyond the physical since toddlerhood. Nehira uses creativity to capture and communicate the ephemeral beauty of meditative consciousness.

Lorraine Gervais and Michelle Amador are teaming up for a special evening to take you on a journey inspired by the women pioneers of melody, lyrics and rhythm—vocal jazz at its best! Singing some their favorites from Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone and many more, Lorraine and Michelle regularly sing together as part of the vocal crew in the Lolo’s Lounge Cabaret Series at the Center for the Arts (now in its 3rd year).

This show is in honor of Larry Dulmage who was one of the biggest supporters of live performances here in Nevada County and who absolutely loved all music, but especially jazz!

Steve Fossen and Michael Derosier, bassist and drummer for the band Heart during the 1970s and early 1980s, are now touring as Heart By Heart. "Our mission is to perform the classic Heart music as faithfully as we can," Fossen says. The band features vocalist Somar Macek, guitarist/keyboardist/vocalist Lizzy Daymont and guitarist Chad Quist. Heart By Heart presents a powerful, dynamic show that includes all the favorite Heart hits as well as deep album cuts that fans will love.

Jewelry artist Pamela Klein has been making jewelry of one kind or another for over thirty-five years. Her extensive beading background transitioned into metalworking around 2005, which she has been loving ever since. She designs pieces that often exhibit themes of nature, especially trees, flowers, mountains, and birds. Currently, Pam is exploring work that layers mixed metals, portraying landscape scenes that reflect the beauty and nature surrounding us in gorgeous Nevada County.

"From some of my earliest memories, I remember enjoying jewelry. I was especially attracted to the ancient history of adornment which showed me that wearing jewelry is an innately human behavior – something that undeniably connects us across the globe and across the centuries. I love being a part of the world by expressing my art through such a universally understood medium."

Compose and perform an original puppet operetta in this multi-disciplinary summer program for young minds!

Curiosity, exploration, and experimentation are essential for children to learn about the world, themselves, and others. This summer, InConcert Sierra provides a safe environment for kids to explore their creative expression through music, movement, collaboration, and play in a “Puppet Opera” summer class for children ages 6-12.

Educator and composer Alexis Alrich collaborates with young students to compose and perform an original puppet operetta in this multidisciplinary summer program. Students will create songs and instrumental music for “The Green Canary,” adapted from a book in Hugh Lofting’s “Doctor Dolittle'' series. Accomplished actor and youth drama coach Fred Stuart will assist the students as they prepare for the performance.

Several legislators led the charge in reversing the budget cuts to arts and culture. The author of SB 1116, Senator Anthony Portantino and Assembly member Mike Gipson, Chair of the Assembly Arts, Entertainment, Sports, & Tourism Committee, secured the signatures of twenty colleagues in opposition to the cuts. Additional leadership came from Senate President pro Tempore Mike McGuire, Speaker of the Assembly Robert Rivas, Assembly Member Sharon Quirk-Silva, Chair of Budget Subcommittee No. 5 on State Administration, and Senator Steve Padilla, Chair of Budget Subcommittee No. 4 on State Administration. And all the members of the Senate and Assembly supported the final budget.
