GVNC: What is your medium? Lang: Mainly ceramic sculpture also drawing and painting.
GVNC: At what point in your life did you realize your calling?
Lang: Fortunately, my mom raised me in contact with the Arts and encouraged me to try them early in my life.
GVNC: Tell us about your creative process.
Lang: I choose a subject; it can be an object or a character. I take them out of context and distort them. Once I have the image in my head and in paper, I can decide if it´ll be a 2’D or 3’D project.
GVNC: What inspires you?
Lang: Humans, their behavior, what they make, their bodies, their choices, their minds.
GVNC: What are you most proud of?
Lang: A long-time stable practice. How I´m able to transform materials and trick the eye of the viewer.
GVNC: What do you love best about our creative community?
Lang: How talented and how much variety there is.
GVNC: Name two Nevada County artists you admire and why.
Lang: It´s hard to decide, there are so many! Molly Fisk, the way her writings put images in my mind. I collect artwork from the Neighborhood Center for the Arts.
GVNC: What’s coming up for you?
Lang: I’m in the show “Embodied” at ASIF Studios. Opening reception on August 28th at 5pm. I just came back from Mexico where my work was given an Honorable Mention at the National Ceramics Prize (49o Premio Nacional de la Cerámica).
